Two piece back  of even wide grained maple, with narrow curl.  Medium grain maple on ribs with medium curl. Medium curl on neck with faint figure. Front of medium grain spruce.  Ebony Swiss-style pegs and  ebony fingerboard and chin rest. Orange oil varnish.

Instrument making in the Roth family  began with Gustav Robert Roth in 1873. His son, Ernst Heinrich Roth I started his own business in 1902 at the age of 25 years in Markneukirchen.  After the war his cousin Albert Roth re-established the company in the Federal Republic of Germany. After Albert’s death in 1961,  Ernst Heinrich Roth III and his son Wilhelm, both trained luthiers,  took over the business and still run it today.
