AS02/ 27B Circa 1820-30s English petite 4/4 violin bow. Pernambuco stick. Branded: ‘Davis. Late Norris’. Silver fully mounted ebony frog with pearl slide and eye. Three -part silver and ebony button with pearl eye. Ivory tip. (CITES registration number: 2YYD9AZB).
Likely Richard Davis, (1775-1836) who worked for John Norris and Robert Barnes , a London firm. Norris and Barnes were both bow-makers trained by Thomas Smith. Davis later took over the Norris and Barnes firm from John Norris.
