This instrument comes from the workshops of Xue Ping Hu, of Beijing , China. This violin is a replica of the famous ‘Chaconne Hummig’ Stradivari 1725. It is No.1 of a Single Limited Edition of 10 instruments, commissioned by the Sound Post Ltd to commemorate the 300th anniversary of this celebrated violin.
The original Stradivari “Chaconne” violin, crafted in 1725, is named after Bach’s famous Chaconne movement from his Partita No. 2 for solo violin, due to its perceived suitability for interpreting that piece. The violin was later owned by Philipp Hammig.
